Becoming Leh-Ready
Upon arrival at Leh Airport, check into the Hotel and take some time to rest and relax. Leh is located at a high altitude (3,500 meters), so it's important to take it easy on your first day to allow your body to acclimatize. In the afternoon, take on a half-day sightseeing tour of Leh. Visit the Leh Palace, a former royal residence that offers panoramic views of the city. Next, head to the Shanti Stupa, a Buddhist white-domed chorten that promotes world peace. In the evening, explore the Leh market, a vibrant hub where you can find souvenirs, local handicrafts, and pashmina shawls.
Sham Valley Sightseeing
After a leisurely breakfast, go for a day trip to the Sham Valley, located west of Leh. Visit the Thiksey Monastery, an impressive complex perched on a hilltop, resembling a mini Potala Palace of Lhasa. Continue to Hemis Monastery, the largest monastery in Ladakh, famous for its collection of ancient murals, thangka paintings, and artifacts. On the way back to Leh, stop at Shey Palace, the former summer residence of the Kings of Ladakh, offering stunning views of the Indus Valley
Nubra Valley Excursion
Today's adventure takes you to the Nubra Valley, crossing the world's highest motorable pass, Khardung La (18,380 ft). Enjoy breathtaking views of the Himalayas and the feeling of accomplishment reaching such a high altitude. Upon arrival in Nubra, explore the Diskit Monastery, the oldest and largest monastery in the valley. Visit the Hunder Sand Dunes, a unique desert landscape amidst the mountains, and enjoy a short camel ride (optional).
Exploring the Beauty of Pangong Lake
Get ready for an early morning drive to Pangong Tso, a high-altitude lake famous for its mesmerizing beauty and ever-changing colors. On the way, cross Chang La Pass, the world's third-highest motorable pass at 17,590 ft. Marvel at the stunning scenery of the Changthang plateau, a cold desert known for its unique ecosystem. Spend some time at Pangong Lake, enjoy the scenic beauty, capture stunning photographs, and take a short boat ride (optional). In the evening, return to Leh for a comfortable stay.
